Trainee Property Manager
(with career progression to Senior Property Manager in three years)
Chapmans Property Lettings & Management – Edinburgh
Full-time | Permanent
A Role with Real Progression
Chapmans Property Management is hiring. As we move through a milestone year for the business, alongside an exciting brand refresh, we’re looking for a Trainee Property Manager who wants to grow with us and play a meaningful role in the next chapter of Chapmans.
This is an opportunity to join a highly regarded, independent Edinburgh lettings agency based in Roseburn and develop into a Senior Property Manager within three years through structured training, clear KPIs, and hands-on experience from day one.
The Role
You’ll join the team working closely with a senior property manager, initially supporting the management of an established portfolio.
From the outset, you’ll be involved in the day-to-day running of properties, gaining exposure across:
- Tenant communication and issue resolution
- Property inspections and reporting
- Maintenance coordination
- Check-ins, check-outs and inventories
- Property relets
- Landlord communication and support
You’ll be trained in the Chapmans way of doing things; a more hands-on, relationship-led approach than typical high-volume agencies.
Over time, you’ll take on increasing responsibility, building towards full portfolio management.
Progression and Development
We are offering a clearly defined progression route.
Trainee Property Manager → Property Manager → Senior Property Manager
Our successful candidate will typically progress to Property Manager within 18 months and to Senior Property Manager within three years.
You’ll work towards defined milestones, including inspections, inventories, maintenance management, landlord communication, deposit negotiation and portfolio responsibility.
Alongside this, you’ll receive:
- Support towards ARLA / Letwell qualifications
- Ongoing training and development
- Salary progression linked to performance and responsibility
This role won’t suit everyone. It’s fast-paced and requires a high level of accountability. For the right person, it offers a clear path, strong support, and the opportunity to build a meaningful career in property.
What We’re Looking For
We’re looking for someone who is:
Driven and proactive
You take ownership, follow things through, and don’t wait to be asked.
Genuinely interested in property
Ideally, you have up to a year’s industry experience, or a clear desire to build a career in lettings and property management.
Highly organised and detail-focused
You understand that small details matter and that they underpin great service.
A strong communicator
Confident speaking with tenants, landlords and contractors, both written and verbal.
A team player
We’re a small, close-knit team. We support each other and work collaboratively.
Comfortable in a high-accountability and team environment
We operate with a central inbox and shared visibility. Everyone contributes and standards are high.

As we move into our next phase, we’re investing in the team that will help shape it.

You’ll join a small, highly regarded team where your work is visible and your development is a priority. You’ll play a genuine role in shaping how we grow.
